Most Rev. Augustine Madathikunnel was born on July 9, 1963, in Koolivaya, Kerala State, India.
He had his seminary formation at St. Charles Seminary, Nagpur and was ordained a priest on April 18, 1994, for the Diocese of Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh State, India.

Offices held: Parochial priest in Sirpur (1994-1996); Secretary to the Bishop and Teacher at St. Thomas School (1996-1997); Licentiate in Moral Theology at the Pontifical Alphonsin Academy in Rome (1997-1999); Secretary to the Bishop (1999-2000); Rector of St. Pius Seminary and Administrator of St. Pius School (2000-2010); Secretary to the Bishop and Diocesan Bursar (2010-2018); Pastor of St. Anne parish (2018-2021). He was the Administrator of the diocese (2021-2024).

Pope Francis appointed Rev. Augustine Madathikunnel as the 4th Bishop of the Diocese of Khandwa on Feb. 17, 2024.

He was consecrated Bishop on March 21, 2024. Congratulations to Bishop Augustine on his First Episcopal Ordination anniversary.
